Prop Firm Account Records: Cash, Balance and Equity
The number shown as account capital is not interchangeable with the cash you paid for access. A useful prop-account journal separates the purchase ledger, the trading ledger and external payments. This makes it possible to explain an account change without inventing a deposit or withdrawal.

Choose the record before choosing the total
The purchase ledger contains actual entry charges and any documented refunds. The trading ledger contains the account’s balance movements and separately observed floating result. An external payment ledger requires its own confirmation. Preserve the currency and source of every value before converting it for reporting.
HashHedge’s guide distinguishes Balance from Equity and describes a later Trader stage. Its contractual conditions govern the actual relationship. A label on a screenshot does not by itself establish the cash you own outside the programme.
Reconcile a fictional account snapshot
Suppose an assessment starts at a nominal 10,000 units, while the entry purchase is 99 in a separate currency record. A closed trading result of plus 120 and known charges of 7 produce a balance of 10,113 in the exercise. If floating P&L is minus 40, equity is 10,073.
Adding the entry purchase to that balance would mix two ledgers. Likewise, recording the displayed 10,073 as an external cash receipt would describe a transaction that has not occurred. The example does not quote a real HashHedge fee, account statement or withdrawal.
| Record | Value | Classification |
|---|---|---|
| Entry purchase | 99 | Separate cash ledger |
| Nominal assessment start | 10,000 | Account reference |
| Closed result less charges | +113 | Balance 10,113 |
| Floating result | −40 | Equity 10,073 |
| External receipt | Not supplied | Unconfirmed |
Add CAD reporting without erasing original units
A Canadian journal may include an explicitly supplied CAD reference valuation. Keep it beside the original amount, rate and date. A reporting conversion is a calculation; the actual payment debit or credit remains its own record. Canadian editorial context does not establish that a programme accepts Canadian residents.
The existing cash-reconciliation resource on this site can help trace movements. Use it to identify unexplained differences rather than forcing the account total to match an assumed profit. Missing fees or unresolved positions should remain visible.
Read eligibility and payment rights separately
An evaluation result, a later account entitlement and a payment right are governed by their applicable conditions. Retain the observed stage and the current contract when considering a programme. This worksheet does not connect to a trading account or validate a payout.
The optional HashHedge link lets you inspect its current programme details after completing the ledger. All of the arithmetic and record structure remain available without a purchase.
